"97 Seasons of Kannapolis Football"
Kannaplis football has been the pride of Kannapolis since 1924, and though you can't put a numerical value on any one team, stats are an integral part of gaging one's overall success and failure. For ninety six seasons since 1924, the Wonders of Kannapolis, whether they be from Central High School, J.W. Cannon High School, and later A.L. Brown High School, have been the central focus of loyal Wonder supporters from August through November.
In 92 documented regular seasons since 1930, the Wonders have recorded sixty six winning seasons while having nine seasons finishing at 500% with only seventeen subpar season outings. This is a remarkable feat for any program having such a long history of competition. The Wonders recorded an impressive streak of thirty six consecutive winning seasons from 1978 to 2013. That streak unfortunately was snapped at the conclusion of the 2014 season in which the Wonders finished at an even 500% win to loss ratio.
Through hours of painstaking research of microfilm, yearbooks, and other historical sources and data, I have compiled this extensive database of scores and other statistics from each of the Wonders ninety two seasons. They don't tell the entire story, but they do give you an insight as to what each team accomplished during it's particular varsity season. In the columns below, I have broken down each team's number of points scored and points allowed, both in regular and playoff scenarios. A cumulative total appears out to the right of each column. -The editor

"Top 25 Stingiest Wonder Defenses Since 1970"
For the purposes of this top twenty five defensive teams, it was necessary to eliminate the decade of the fifties and sixties due to several seasons where less than ten games were played. The fifties had four games in which only nine games were played and one season in which there were only seven games played. The sixties had one year in which only nine games were played and to be fair to the teams who later would play ten and eleven game regular seasons I started this top twenty five from 1970. It must be noted however that the 1960 WNCHSAA Co Champion Wonders played a twelve game season including playoffs in which only 39 points were allowed during the entire season. The 1960 Wonders would come in at the #3 spot if they had been included in this category. **Note** These stats and cumulative points allowed do not include playoff games. These teams were ranked at the conclusion of a ten to eleven game regular season**

"Top 20 Most Prolific Wonder Quarterbacks"
In the long celebrated history of Wonder football, there have been literally hundreds of outstanding field generals that have graced the field on many Wonder teams from 1930 to the present. Not all of those QBs became proficient signal callers, but they were all great in their own space and time. The FIK Top Twenty list of most Prolific Wonder QBs of All Time is not a popular poll as to the fan favorite, but a collective list of some of the most accomplished Wonder Quarterbacks over the history of Wonder football. This list was comprised after hours of meticulous research of each player's individual stats as they were preserved in history. The list is the collective accumulation of each players stats after a varsity career without JV time being factored in. Rushing, Passing, Scoring, and All Purpose yards were combined to make up the final statistical leaders in this list. This list is not the editor's personal declaration as to the best Wonder QB of All Time. That is up to the individual, but the stats don't lie, and this list is about as close as you can get to the truth in a society that is numbers driven. -The editor

"Top 20 Most Prolific Wonder Runningbacks"
In the long celebrated history of Wonder football, there have been literally hundreds of outstanding ball carriers that have graced the backfield on many Wonder teams from 1930 to the present. Not all of those backs became thousand yard rushers, but they were all great in their own space and time. The FIK Top Twenty list of most Prolific Wonder RBs of All Time is not a popular poll as to the fan favorite, but a collective list of some of the most accomplished Wonder ball carriers over the history of Wonder football. This list was comprised after hours of meticulous research of each player's individual stats as they were preserved in history. The list is the collective accumulation of each players stats after a varsity career without JV time being factored in. Rushing, Receiving, and All Purpose yards were combined to make up the final statistical leaders in this list. This list is not the editor's personal declaration as to the best Wonder RB of All Time. That is up to the individual, but the stats don't lie, and this list is about as close as you can get to the truth in a society that is numbers driven. -The editor

The Friday Nights in K-Town Shutout
"Hall of Shame"
Below are the top five programs who have been shutout the most by Wonder football teams throughout the sixty seven year history of A.L. Brown High School. The group of teams were not selected by level of personal like or dislike, but by that program's inability to score points against the Wonders on numerous occasions during gridiron battle. The list of High School football programs is lovingly called the "Hall of Shame"

The Central High School Years
1924,1925,1929
(These 3 Seasons are Unconfirmed Records)
Throughout my research of Kannapolis football since football began in 1924, there is little to no credible information documenting those seasons. Other than the scores listed in the first four games of the inaugural 1924 season, all that is known is that Central High School lost all of it's contests. Football would be suspended in 1925 due to academic ineligibility midway through the season with none of those games documented. Football would resume in 1929 with none of those contests scores documented. Hopefully at some point more information will emerge concerning these first three years, but until that time, confirmed historical documentation of Kannapolis Football begins in 1930 in the first year of J.W Cannon High School. -The editor
